VOLUNTEER FOR MIDSOMMARFEST

Midsommarfest is back! Andersonville's biggest summer celebration returns June 12-14, 2026 with three days of live music, food, art, and community on Clark Street. The festival is free, open to everyone, and made possible by volunteers like you. Interested in being part of it? Read on.

GATE VOLUNTEERS

Gate volunteers are the friendly faces people see first when they walk into the festival. Stationed at entry points along Clark Street, gate volunteers greet guests, share information about the festival’s suggested $10 donation, and other simple duties. No experience is needed. Just bring a good attitude and a willingness to chat with people.

Shifts are approximately three hours long and are available across all three days of the festival (Friday evening, Saturday, and Sunday). All volunteers receive a free Midsommarfest t-shirt, water and snacks during their shift.

WHAT TO EXPECT

More details coming soon! As we get closer to the festival, we’ll update this page with volunteer check-in instructions, a training guide, day-of logistics, and everything else you need to know before your shift. Check back here in the weeks leading up to the fest.

BEVERAGE BOOTH VOLUNTEERS

Midsommarfest beverage booths are staffed exclusively by local nonprofit organizations. It's a great fundraising opportunity, and the 2026 roster is full. If your nonprofit is interested in future festivals, reach out to the Andersonville Chamber of Commerce to get on the list.

VOLUNTEER FAQ

Do I need any prior experience to volunteer?

Not at all. We provide a brief training and the tasks of gate volunteers are simple. All you need is enthusiasm and a smile!

How long are shifts?

Gate volunteer shifts are approximately three hours. You’re welcome to sign up for more than one shift if you’d like.

What should I wear?

Wear comfortable clothes and shoes. You’ll be outdoors, so dress for the weather. We’ll provide your volunteer t-shirt when you check in.

Where do I check in on the day of my shift?

Check-in details will be shared with all volunteers closer to the festival. We’ll email you directly with your shift assignment, check-in location, and everything you need to know.

Is there parking nearby?

Street parking is available in the surrounding neighborhood, though it can fill up during the festival. We recommend taking the CTA Red Line to the Berwyn stop, and walk west to the Foster & Clark entrance.

My nonprofit wants to get involved but beverage booths are full. Are there other options?
