SUMMARY:Halloween Creepy Crawlies
DESCRIPTION:Halloween Creepy Crawlies is a family friendly dance production
produced by Darvin Dances that explores the mysteries of Halloween throug
h a lost ghost’s search for her haunted home. On her way\, she is helped
  by Ballerina Witches\, Jazzy Vampires\, Modern-Dancing Mummies\, a Tap-Da
ncing Skeleton and even a Jack O’ Lantern named Jake!\n\nOur story start
s when Mallory (a ghost) awakes on Halloween Eve to find that she has been
removed from her haunted house! After figuring out how to move her variou
s limbs again (or lack thereof)\, she runs into Jake. This twirling and bo
uncing Jack O Lantern directs her to talk to the mysterious ballerina witc
hes of the Foggy Forest. Jake gives Mallory a map to find the Foggy Forest
and hopefully to meet the ballerina witches for their advice. The witches
take her to their Cauldron of Truth where Mallory is told that she will h
ave to help the jazzy vampires and modern dancing mummies at Creepy Crawly
Lane make amends for the Cauldron to help her.\n\nWhen Mallory and Jake m
ake their way to CCL\, they find the jazzy vampires and modern dancing mum
mies in a fierce candy stealing war. She and Jake convince them that if th
ey share all their entire candy stash\, everyone will end up with enough c
andy. On their way back from Creepy Crawly Lane\, they run into a tap-danc
ing skeleton getting ready for a dance performance. They stop to watch her
dance and wish her luck! Then back at the Foggy Forest\, the Cauldron pro
duces a map back to Mallory’s haunted house. The production ends with Ma
llory waving from the stoop of her haunted house with Jake handing out can
dy to the Halloween Trick or Treaters.\n\nThis production was created by M
ariah Eastman\, artistic director of Darvin Dances\, a Chicago based moder
n/contemporary dance company. Along with six professional dancers\, there
are seven young dancers from the Chicago community participating in this p
roduction (dancers are based at Dovetail Studios\, Gus Giordano and Tutu S
chool). The choreography was created by Mariah Eastman with Alicia Wilson
and Vanessa Maxwell choreographing for the young dancers. Illustrations we
re created by Nat Thomas (https://natthomas.work/work) with lighting desig
n by Ruby Lowe.\n\nThis performance has been generously subsidized through
Chicago Danztheatre Ensemble’s artist's support and residency program a
s well as sponsored by Tutu School.\n\n
