Arts Week Headquarters

Arts Week Headquarters will be located at 1511 W. Berwyn from September 14-16.

5-9PM: ARTS WEEK HEADQUARTERS (at 1511 West Berwyn from September 14-16) | Pick up Andersonville Arts Week Guides & Maps, meet friends before heading out for the Night of Artist Receptions & Neighborhood Parties, ask questions about the weekend’s festivities, relax in our faux living room with couches equipped with charging stations by Burrow, get to know neighborhood theatres and check out discount tickets at Hot Tix, snack on lite bites, and visit our Handmade Market!

Don’t for get to check out our Friday night Arts Week Drink Promotion and grab a FREE pedi-cab ride to the party of your choice or around the district! Pedi-cabs depart out of Arts Week HQ starting at 6PM. The pedi-cabs are supported by SSA#22, Chicago Magic Lounge, and Chicago Methodist Senior Services.

Andersonville stays up late on the Friday night of Arts Week! Join our area businesses for a night of celebration, with artist receptions and treats at over 40 locations! The Andersonville Chamber of Commerce will also pop-up at the Arts Week Headquarters at 1511 West Berwyn.

VISIT LATE: Open until 8PM – Trans Art Is is an ongoing discursive community art project and platform that is opening, intervening, and creating content and contact between transgender and gender non-conforming artists and Andersonville Galleria visitors. Experience and learn about local transgender and gender non-conforming artists and their artwork. In the exhibit, you will see artists photography, paintings, prints, sculptures, multi-media works and more. Bring artists’ works into your home and life to keep this meaningful discursive community dialogue alive by buying or leasing artworks and supporting the Trans Art Is project.

PARTY/RECEPTION: Join Mercantile M in celebrating their 5th Anniversary with a special reception for artist Yusef Riazi. Yusef Riazi was born and raised in Akron, OH to an Iranian immigrant father and an American mother. After a number of somewhat isolated years Yusef is finding his voice through photographing what he calls “The American Condition,” – old houses, metal awnings, vintage signage, mobile homes, details on automobiles to name just a few. Through color, texture and composition he attempts to show The American Condition as filtered through his eye.

Viktor Van Bramer is a self taught perfumer, painter and florist. In his exhibit, “body of work///work of body” he explores and zooms in on intimate contrasts coexisting with overlapping bodies and topographies.

DINE LATE + PARTY/RECEPTION: 6-8PM – Octavio will be hosting an open house for its “Artist in Residence” Cecilio Garcia. Garcia, a Chicago based artist known for his vibrant, colorful and often whimsical pieces, created the large portrait of the famous Mexican poet Octavio Paz located in the restaurant.  “I wanted the piece to encapsulate Octavio in a state of expression and muse. After much reading and research, I stumbled across a strong image that represented Octavio in a rare thoughtful state of thinking as a Mexican poet. The found photo image then transitioned into what became the inspiration for the head shot of the canvas.” – Artist Cecilio Garcia

PARTY/RECEPTION: 8-10PM – Immediately following class, Yoga Tree hosts an artist reception for painter John Baker. The Accidental Cover Quartet will play during the reception from 8:15-9:15PM and light refreshments will be served.

John Baker is a prolific painter and performer, who creates art daily from his studio in Chicago. Working in a variety of media, John’s work celebrates life in a busy city, while exploring our deep connections to the natural world.
